Lots of modern sports surface facilities have installed sports fencing, to help create a secure sports facility. These modern MUGA Multi Use Games Area facilities often have a standard Twin Bar Weldmesh Fence installed. This fencing, which is a 3.0m high x 2.50m wide has a sandwich twin bar panel which compiles of 6.0mm vertical wires which is trapped or sandwiched by 8mm horizontal wires.
However, this ballstop fencing system can also be manufactured, specified and designed to suit most areas. 4.0m & 5.0m high fencing can be achieved and fencing can also have super rebound panels installed along the bottom 1.2m, to strengthen the area of fence where it comes under more stress from ball damage. Single and double leaf gates can be installed into most fencing systems, along with recessed goals. These systems will not alter the structural strength of the system.
Twin Bar Panel BallCourt Fences
MUGA Twin Bar Panel fencing is an attractive option for any sporting project which requires a high quality perimeter fence. A standard specification for this Twin bar would be a 3.0m high fence to the Multi Use Games Area perimeter, consisting of a 3.0m high x 2.50 wide standard Twin Bar Panel, in a single lift on RHS posts using clamp bars and anti tamper fasteners. Standard Twin Bar panels comprise of 6mm vertical wires sandwiched by twin 8mm horizontals to form a 200x50mm mesh to the complete height of the panel.
Soft Surfaces are a contractor who can provide you with a quotation, design and installation of this quality sports surfacing fence. Double leaf and Single leaf gates can also be installed into the Twin Bar Panel MUGA fence, along with football goal recesses which makes for a perfect Multi Use Games Area fencing solution. You can upgrade and replace existing ball court fences, whilst keeping the same specification and structural strength.
Roll Form Welded Mesh Fences for Multi Use Games Areas
Roll Form welded Multi Use Games Area Fencing, is a popular fencing system that is perfect for MUGA’S and Ball Courts, comes in various specifications and is very strong due to its steel construction.
Laid around the perimeter of the MUGA, the design of the fence affects the cost of the proposed system. You can have the fence in a number of different heights and the system can be made reinforced or stronger across the bottom to protect against ball damage.
Roll Form Welded Mesh Fencing is also known as Ball Stop fencing. There are a number of contractors and installers who can install, upgrade and replace existing Roll Form Welded Mesh Fencing when it has been damaged during play or vandalism.
A typical specification for this product is a 3.0m high fence, laid around the Multi Use Games Area, consisting of a double lift of 50x50x3.50 / 3.0mm galvanised and plastic coated green roll form welded mesh secured to high tension line wires with steel clips.
The fencing is put into concrete posts in 3.0m centres. You can have Roll Form Welded Fencing on MUGA’s which include sports such as Basketball, Netball and Tennis. The fencing can be completed with goal recesses and basketball hoops.
Single and double leaf gates can be added, along with timber kickboards to the bottom of the fence to allow for a true rebound of certain sport balls, such as hockey.
Soft Surfaces Ltd is a sports contractor who specialise in these types of systems. Budget / funding advice, costing information and quotations can all be catered for, along with the full construction of the fencing. Please visit our website or call us on 01625 445760
Padel tennis has started to take the world by storm as one of the newest forms of racquet sports. Since originating from Mexico in 1969 it has grown massively across the globe with now over 2 million registered players worldwide.
It is now regarded as the most popular sport in both Argentina and Spain. However, the sport has an extremely small following within the United Kingdom, with their being an exceedingly small number of courts in the UK and subsequently a small amount of Padel tennis court construction contractors.
Soft Surfaces Ltd are specialist Padel tennis court construction contractors within the UK. We can offer expert advice when it comes to the installation of Padel tennis courts. We offer a variety of surfaces all with the essential performance characteristic of a porous flooring material. This allows for water to pass through the surface making it an all-weather Padel tennis court surface.
You can choose to have your Padel tennis court constructed in artificial grass. This has the great benefit of being more comfortable underfoot for the players. Therefore it reduces the chances of getting any shock or impact injuries on your joints. One of the alternatives to having artificial grass surfacing is to get your Padel tennis court construction contractor to install the court using a porous macadam surfacing.
These macadam Padel tennis courts are covered with a polyurethane anti-slip paint coating. This helps reduce the chances of serious falls or accidents from a slippery surface. The aggregate the polyurethane coating adds to the Padel court help to increase friction. Similarly to the macadam Padel tennis court, building a Padel court in polymeric rubber also has the advantage of the anti-slip paint coating. With each of these surfaces, you can choose from a variety of different colours to personalize the courts.
Playing Padel Tennis
Padel tennis is rapidly growing and will soon be a huge recreational sport in the UK. Are you a school, leisure centre or sports club looking to bring something new to your customers or trying to attract new people? Building a Padel tennis court through a specialist contractor is the way to go.

Below you can see a video of the installation of the long jump installation we carried out.
Please see video transcript below:
00:06 Hi, guys. It’s Dan here. And today we’re going to be looking at a Multisport long jump installation that we carried out in the Milton Keynes area.
Firstly, the actual surface was completely waterlogged, so we had to carry out drainage for that. And this essentially carrying out the prep for the sunbed itself. For the next step, which is going to be installing the soft kerb edging on the geotextile membrane. This essentially prevents weeds from growing underneath the sunbed.
After that, we actually remove the old surface where the long jump runway is going to be installed. And then we move on to install the pre cast concrete, which is the edging that surrounds it. So that’s kind of what we edge up to as we’re installing the long jump. Once that’s in, the Multisport synthetic turf is then applied. So, as you can see, this is coming together now as a final finish.
And once it’s all installed, this is the complete project. So as you can see, they look absolutely fantastic for any kind of school facility or athletics club or athletics track you might be going to. A very popular product in schools and they’re great for extracurricular and curricular activities for children.

Organisation is an important skill for children to master in school. It affects how they work in lessons and will also be something they take with them into adulthood.
Many playground activities can help teach organisation through fun and education. Check out some ideas for incorporating organisation skills into play below.
The activities will involve finding similar items and grouping them together into categories. Children could do this outside by collecting up pebbles, leaves twigs or even outdoor toys like building blocks.
They can then separate these and categorise them by size, shape and colour. This kind of activity makes use of natural features already in the playground. It also offers a simple way to practise counting and sorting.
2. Tidying Toys Away
Having storage facilities for toys in the playground is a great way to save space. It also gives kids the chance to practise organising themselves. Encouraging the children to tidy things away after playing will teach responsibility. It also keeps the outdoor space in order and prevents equipment from being lost.
Large storage sheds or benches with integrated storage offer the perfect place to keep outdoor toys safe. You could also categories the different types of equipment together. This means they can be easily found if someone wants to use them. For example, building blocks in one section, balls in another, skipping ropes in another etc.
Different pieces of furniture on the playground can help with storage. These are multifunctional as children can use them for seating and storing toys.
3. Time Management Activities
Managing time is a key skill for children to master during their school years. From knowing what time to get up in the morning, to knowing how long each lesson is, it’s important to stay on schedule.
There are plenty of outdoor activities which can incorporate time management. Here are a few ideas you could try at your school.
You could use stopwatches and sand timers to keep track of the time. Then ask children to complete a task within a certain time limit. This can become a team game where different groups compete and see who has the fastest time.
Activities you can do against the clock include completing puzzles, building things, making up scenes to act out, and loads more.
Sports with Time Goals
Another way you can incorporate time management is through sports and physical activity. Ask each child to time how long it takes them to run a certain distance or complete an obstacle course.
This doesn’t have to be competitive, but it can give the children a chance to set their own goals and beat them next time. It’s more about improving on their own time rather than trying to beat others.
4. An Organised Playground Design
Another way of maintaining order in the play area is to have a specific place for each type of equipment. This way, children can travel around the playground doing different activities.
It also gives the quieter kids a chance to sit and relax, while more sporty kids can enjoy playing physical games.
Some examples of different playground zones might include:
A sports area with line markings, goals ends, basketball hoops etc.
Obstacle course or adventure area with climbing and balancing equipment.
Seating area for relaxing, chatting and quiet activities.
Space for playing with small toys like building blocks.
An area with a sandbox and water table for discovery play.
You don’t have to have a separate space for all these things in your school play area. But splitting up the playground helps create a more organised layout. This way children can choose which activities they want to do during their break. Then they can switch between different games at playtime.
Organisational skills help children find order and routine in their daily lives. This helps them create a consistent structure, and see patterns and groupings between different items.
Being organised helps to improve performance in lessons as well as the development of other important skills. It’s also a way of developing self-regulation and creating improvements in behaviour. So kids can manage their own time and behaviour without constant adult supervision.
There are plenty of ways to encourage organisation and structure on the playground. Why not try to implement some of our tips and see how these can benefit your pupils.

Synthetic Turf Surfacing in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire Case Study
What was the specification? : 4 lane Multisport long jump What colours were used? : Red and blue What was the size of the job? : 120m² How long did the job take? 7 day on site What sub base was used? : Porous stone sub base
With over 20 years of experience, this is only one of our many projects where we have installed Synthetic Turf. This type of surface is most commonly seen as all-weather sports pitches for sports such as football and hockey. But this school have used it for their long and triple jump track, benefiting from the smooth level surfaces compared to their old worn synthetic track.
In the short video below our in house team of installers convert this old compacted stone long jump track, to a bright coloured activity area where the pupils can practice athletic sports to further careers to become professional sports people or Olympians.
This video highlights the process that we use to revitalise this area adding a sufficient sub-base to clear standing water and provide drainage to the surface. After this is completed the then lay the different colours of Synthetic turf to provide the lanes for the wearing course.
Please see video transcript below:
00:05 Hi, guys. It’s Dan from Soft Surfaces here. I’m still going to be showing you a Multi-Sport long jump installation for Vandyke Upper School in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.
00:12 So firstly, we examined the old surface, made sure it’s suitable for the surface that we’re going to lay and then also remove the area.
00:17 So as you can see, we’re removing it there for the long jump to be installed. Next, the curb edging is installed, so these are the edging that goes around the long jump, as you can see. So basically we fit them to obviously know where we’re going to build up to for the stone base.
00:25 As you can see, this is the stone base being installed now. So the stone sub-base is basically a necessary part for the Multi Sport to be installed onto, there we are laying it.
And finally, the Multi Sport synthetic turf is then installed.
00:39 So as you can see here, this is us installing the turf, adding to the color of the facility and it really makes it look great when it’s finished.
00:45 So here is the finished product now, you’re going to see some photos of that.
00:49 This is a really great facility, obviously we have four lanes on this, meaning that multiple kids can use it at the same time. It’s great for their educational and recreational use, whilst obviously giving them the ability to have a bit of fun on the playground and obviously learn about the sport long jump. And yeah, just a great surface all-round, really, for a school.
01:02 So we hope you enjoyed this video, and we’ll see you guys later.
Bedfordshire is the fourteenth most densely populated county of England and has over half the population living in the counties two largest built-up areas. Luton having a population of 236,000 and the county town of Bedford having 102,000 as of the 2011 census.
Bedfordshire has two of Englands six main highways that pass through Bedfordshire, the A1 and the A5. The A1 from London to Edinburgh sometimes know as the great northern road and the A5 between London and Holyhead Road passing through to Dunstable.
Benefits of a Synthetic Turf in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire
Having a synthetic turf surface installed in the Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire area has many benefits, these include the following:
Proper Drainage
Synthetic Turf is designed to have small holes to seamlessly drain water from the surface, whether this is caused by rain, rinsing or paddling pool. This makes the surface the more safety-conscious option as you won’t find yourself getting injured.
Reduced Maintenance Costs
Synthetic Turf required little to no maintenance, aside from the occasional sweep and rinse to keep leaves and debris at bay. Not only is this time-consuming, but it’s incredibly expensive as opposed to the cheap and simple and easy maintenance.
Withstands Harsh Weather Conditions
When it comes to real grass, too much sun can dry the grass out, whereas too much rain can drown the grass out. Since natural grass is a living thing, it is very sensitive to the environment and requires a rigorous maintenance schedule. However this doesn’t apply to synthetic grass as it is crafted from manmade substances that aren’t really affected by environmental factors.

And here’s a very big photo of the area we’re going to be installing the 3G pitch onto. It’s a very large area.
00:22 Next up is the ground works. This actually involved us excavating existing area, obviously digging it all up and making it ready for the pitch to be installed there, and then finally, the construction was actually able to begin. As I said, it was built on a flood plain, so there was a lot of preparation that had to be done there for this to be installed.

And next up you’ve got some videos here of us actually installing the shockpad and the artificial turf, obviously, to the surface to complete that job, really. 01:10 Now, as you can see, the completed project is done. It looks absolutely brilliant in this. We’ve obviously got it so it’s installed where we can actually have small pitches, so playing it cross ways, and obviously, a full-sized pitch if we want people having competition on there or obviously professional game. Yeah, obviously, it looks fantastic there with the floodlighting, too, as you can see from the photo, so it is able to be used night and day and all the year round with it being artificial grass, as well, so real ideal training facility, really.

Bradford Information
Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Bradford rose to prominence in the 19th century as an international centre of textile manufacture, particularly wool. It was a boomtown of the Industrial Revolution, and amongst the earliest industrialised settlements, rapidly becoming the “wool capital of the world”.
The area’s access to a supply of coal, iron ore and soft water facilitated the growth of Bradford’s manufacturing base, which, as textile manufacture grew, led to an explosion in population and was a stimulus to civic investment; Bradford has a large amount of listed Victorian architecture including the grand Italianate City Hall.
Bradford has a long sporting tradition, and Bradford Bulls, formerly Bradford Northern, is one of the most successful rugby league clubs in the world, winning the World Club Championship three times since 2002 and seven times winners of the Rugby Football League Championship.
Bradford City Football Club was formed in 1903. The Football League subsequently elected Bradford City to the league, with a total of 30 votes to replace Doncaster Rovers, because it saw the invitation as a chance to introduce football to the rugby-dominated county.

It is recommended to get your court repainted every 2-3 years depending on usage and maintenance. We would also recommend an annual clean to help prevent dirt from contaminating the surface. Have a look at one of our maintenance services below where we take an old used court and transform it to look and play much better.
Anti Slip Colour Coating
The video below shows the process of anti slip colour coating onto an open textured macadam sports court. Painting can be done in various colours to suit individual needs and requirements.

00:03 Hiya guys, it’s Dan from Soft Surfaces here, and in this video we’re going to be showing you a macadam MUGA painting at school in Taunton. So as you can see before, the court was very worn out, it really did need a respray and a repainting.
So what we then did is obviously we painted the macadam in their color of choice, it’s available in many different colors depending on the specification, and now finally the multi games area is completely renovated, rejuvenated with that new paint, it looks really, really great.
And here’s actually a reference from the estate manager himself. They said, “From my point of view the works were carried out quickly, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to the school activities. This site was kept clean and tidy throughout the works and left in immaculate condition.”
Whilst we do work nationwide, we’ve actually carried out a lot of work in the Somerset area, and as a result of this we’re ranking Google for these keywords: sports surface cleaning & painting UK, Taunton multi use games area specialists, Somerset sports facility services, UK tennis court cleaning company, best sports pitch repair Somerset, and even more than that.
So if you’d like to know more about the prices and specifications of our products or you’re ready to inquire, just find our website in the description of this video. Thanks for watching guys and we hope to hear from you soon.
